About us

In July 2017, 17 universities from 5 continents and Coursera are offering a new learning experience for those who want to turn their learning into real-life impact: help achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

On this website, you can find online courses that tackle specific goals, such as SDG16 which promotes “peace, justice and effective, accountable and inclusive institutions”.

Each of the courses offered as part of the SDG Initiative, allows learners to engage with a dedicated partner organisation, such as a non-profit organisation, humanitarian aid organisation or a UN agency, and to assist them with one of their ongoing projects. The type of hands-on projects differ per course, and range from virtual mapping projects to local activities.
